Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series has added another key name to its cast.
Zachary Hart (Slow Horses) has been tapped as a series regular, joining previously announced leads Toby Wallace and Lola Petticrew in the adaptation of Ubisoft’s long-running video game franchise. Netflix is keeping Hart’s role under wraps.
What Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed is about
The series is described as a high-octane thriller set against a secret war between two shadowy factions—one pushing to steer humanity’s future through control and manipulation, and the other fighting to protect free will. The story will follow characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape the course of history.
Production details and creative team
Production is expected to begin in 2026 in Italy, which is also reported to be one of the show’s settings, though the exact time period remains unclear.
Roberto Patino and David Wiener serve as showrunners. The series stems from Netflix’s 2020 deal with Ubisoft, and is executive produced by Patino and Wiener alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones (Ubisoft Film & Television), and Matt O’Toole.
With more than 230 million units sold, Assassin’s Creed remains one of gaming’s biggest blockbuster franchises.
Hart’s recent work
Hart is a British actor-musician who recently starred as Reg in the West End production of the Tony-winning Stereophonic, and earlier this year appeared as Medvedenko in The Seagull at London’s Barbican.
On TV, he has guest-starred on Slow Horses, Masters of the Air, The Witcher: Blood Origin, Bodies, Peaky Blinders, and Doc Martin. Hart is also set to appear in Season 2 of Netflix’s spy action thriller Black Doves. Deadline reports he’ll next be seen in Hugo Blick’s California Avenue for the BBC, alongside Bill Nighy and Helena Bonham-Carter, as well as Channel 4’s Big Mood, opposite Nicola Coughlan.
Hart recently debuted his short film Chimera at the BFI London Film Festival and is repped by Insight Management & Production.
