The precursor to Yellowstone, 1883, will be renewed for a second season.

One of Paramount’s most popular series is Yellowstone. However, its highly rated precursor show, 1883, was equally successful, breaking records and becoming the most popular show ever on Paramount Plus.

So it’s no surprise that Paramount Plus revealed today on an investor call that 1883 will be renewed for a second season, dubbed 1932.

1883 stars real-life lovers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and the renowned Sam Elliot and chronicles the founding tale of Yellowstone’s Dutton family.

“We took the chance to franchise in real-time,” said Chris McCarthy, president, and CEO of ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios. “While most series franchise after their run, we seized the opportunity to franchise in real-time,” he said. “With Taylor Sheridan’s great intellect and amazing writing, we’ve built a completely new world to explore with 1883 while developing ‘Yellowstone,’ and we’ll open up a new chapter in this quickly expanding universe with 1932.”
