Canon’s firmware notices detail updates for the EOS C50, EOS C80 and EOS C400 Cinema EOS cameras, addressing IP streaming security and display issues. The EOS C50 also receives a correction for a problem that could prevent images from being fully recorded to a memory card in Photo mode.
The firmware versions are 1.0.6.1 for the EOS C50 and 1.0.8.1 for both the EOS C80 and EOS C400. Canon’s U.S. notices are dated October 20, 2026.
Security and recording fixes
Canon says all three updates strengthen security for IP streaming and resolve display problems in some language environments. The release notes do not identify the affected languages or describe the security changes in detail.
The Photo mode correction applies to the EOS C50. Canon describes a problem in which writing an image to the card may not finish. Its listed changes for the EOS C80 and EOS C400 contain only the streaming security and display corrections.
Firmware compatibility and limitations
The EOS C50 package applies to cameras running versions 1.0.0.1 through 1.0.5.1. For the EOS C80 and EOS C400, the packages cover versions 1.0.0.1 through 1.0.7.1.
Canon says the cameras cannot return to an earlier firmware version after installation. It also warns that loading menu settings created with the updated firmware onto a camera running older firmware may affect camera operation.
Canon also specifies installation requirements:
- All three updates require an SD, SDHC or SDXC memory card with a capacity of at least 512MB.
- The EOS C50 firmware update must be performed in VIDEO mode.
