Anthropic announced Claude Personal Finance on November 5, 2026, describing a US beta that lets Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers connect bank and card accounts through Plaid and ask questions about their finances. The company says access is read-only: Claude cannot move, manage or invest users’ money.

Anthropic says the feature is being introduced gradually, so eligible subscribers may not see it immediately. Users sign in to their bank through Plaid and select the accounts they want to share. The company says Claude does not ask for or see their bank password.

Spending analysis and account limits

Anthropic describes the feature as a way to examine monthly spending through questions in ordinary language. The company says Claude can identify duplicate charges or unexpected fees. Users can also ask it to create charts and dashboards based on their financial data.

The company says access can include balances and up to two years of transactions from the accounts users connect. That history gives Claude information to compare spending across months and explain the transactions behind an answer.

Anthropic’s help documentation sets a limit of 16 linked US banks. It says access to investment, loan and card accounts is restricted to balances and credit limits, excluding holdings, trades, rates and terms.

Privacy and information retained after unlinking

Anthropic says conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models. Its documentation says chats that use linked accounts are designed to stay out of Claude’s memory and later chat searches. Information shared outside the hub remains subject to the user’s privacy settings.

Unlinking a bank stops Claude from reading its accounts, the company says, but does not erase information already included in conversations. Figures can remain in chats, artifacts and shared links until those items are removed. Deleting a chat also does not delete a separately published artifact.

Anthropic warns that Claude can make mistakes and advises users to check important figures against their bank’s own records. Its help pages note that balances can be a day or two old and duplicate links can distort totals. The company says Personal Finance is intended to help users understand their money and is not designed to provide investment advice.

Anthropic also says it is exploring how Claude could work alongside licensed professionals and regulated firms on larger financial decisions.
