Pinterest says it is adding Amazon storefront linking for creators, a move meant to make shopping from creator recommendations more direct inside the Pinterest app.
Under the setup described by Pinterest, creators who operate an Amazon Storefront can connect it to their Pinterest account. When they save eligible Amazon products, their affiliate shopping link can be applied automatically, and their Amazon Storefront handle can appear on their Pinterest profile.
A firm rollout timeline has not been publicly confirmed, so shoppers should expect availability to depend on whether a creator has connected a storefront and whether the products being pinned qualify for the feature.
How the Pinterest and Amazon link works
The feature is aimed at creators who already use Amazon Storefronts to organize product recommendations. Instead of asking followers to leave Pinterest, search for a creator’s Amazon page, or find a separate affiliate link, the connected storefront can sit closer to the pinning experience.
For shoppers, the change could make Pinterest feel more like a direct shopping channel when browsing products from creators they already follow. For creators, it may reduce the friction between recommending an item and earning from an eligible affiliate purchase.
That distinction matters because Pinterest is not only competing for attention with social apps such as Instagram and TikTok. It also presents itself as a place where people plan purchases, collect ideas and compare products before buying. Pinterest has said that more than half of its users come to the platform to shop, though that figure should be treated as company-provided context rather than independent measurement.
Why the timing matters
The Amazon connection arrives near Amazon Prime Day, which is scheduled for June 23 through June 26. That timing gives the feature a clear commercial backdrop: creators often highlight products around major sale events, and shoppers may be looking for faster ways to move from inspiration to checkout.
Still, this is not the same as every Pinterest product becoming directly purchasable through Amazon. The described feature depends on creator participation, eligible Amazon products and linked storefronts. Users may see it most clearly on creator pages where product recommendations are already central to the account.
Pinterest has also been working through a broader platform challenge: keeping feeds useful as more AI-generated images and posts appear online. The company has introduced controls intended to let users manage how much AI-generated material they see. Storefront linking addresses a different part of the experience, but both changes point to the same pressure on Pinterest: making the platform feel useful enough for people who come there to find real ideas, products and shopping inspiration.
For buyers, the practical benefit is simple. If a trusted creator has connected an Amazon Storefront, Pinterest may offer a shorter route from a saved product idea to an Amazon purchase page. If the creator has not linked a storefront, or if a product is not eligible, the experience may look much like ordinary product discovery on Pinterest.
