Capcom is bringing back Resident Evil: Code Veronica with a remake planned for 2027. The new version is titled Resident Evil Veronica, trimming the original name while returning to one of the series’ more distinctive entries.

The remake was shown during Summer Game Fest 2026, where Capcom used a reveal trailer to reintroduce the game rather than lay out every major detail. The footage pointed to a much more modern presentation than the 2000 Dreamcast release, but Capcom has not yet filled in the full picture on gameplay changes, platforms, or a specific release date.

The original Code Veronica followed Claire and Chris Redfield after the events surrounding Raccoon City. Its story moved the series away from the police station and city streets of earlier games, with much of the action tied to an isolated prison setting and the continuing threat of Umbrella. internal-link-topic: Resident Evil series

Code Veronica has long stood out inside the Resident Evil catalog because of its colder, more gothic tone and its heavier psychological streak. That gives the remake a different starting point from Capcom’s previous Resident Evil revivals, which have already reworked several mainline entries for modern hardware.

For now, the important confirmed detail is the release window: Resident Evil Veronica is aimed at 2027. More information is likely to arrive later as Capcom starts showing how closely the remake follows the original and where it chooses to change course.
