Amazon and Uber announced a U.S. Prime restaurant-delivery partnership on November 5, 2026, giving members $0 delivery fees on qualifying Uber Eats orders of $25 or more placed through Amazon’s website or shopping app. Amazon said its commercial agreement with Grubhub ended the same day.

The change moves Amazon’s integrated restaurant-ordering service to Uber Eats and raises the order threshold for waived delivery fees. It does not immediately end every existing Grubhub+ membership: Wonder, Grubhub’s owner, said members already enrolled through Prime would retain that benefit through December 31, 2027.

Uber Eats orders stay inside Amazon

Amazon and Uber said Prime members can browse restaurants and place orders using their existing Amazon credentials, without downloading another app or creating an Uber account. The companies said the offering covers hundreds of thousands of restaurants, including national chains and independent businesses. Amazon said availability extends across nearly 10,000 U.S. cities and towns, including metropolitan, suburban and rural locations.

Amazon said the benefit also applies to its discounted Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access memberships. The standard Prime subscription was priced at $139 annually or $14.99 monthly in the announcement.

The $25 minimum is higher than the threshold Amazon advertised for its earlier Grubhub+ offer, which waived delivery fees on eligible orders over $12. The replacement therefore changes which smaller restaurant orders qualify for the delivery-fee waiver.

Amazon estimates that delivery-fee savings and exclusive promotions could together exceed $175 a year. That figure is a company estimate, based on typical ordering frequency annualized from August 2026 Uber Eats data, rather than a guaranteed saving for each member.

The comparison assumes orders are placed through Amazon instead of directly through Uber Eats without an Uber One membership. Amazon said savings vary by order, while offers depend on eligibility and availability and may be changed or canceled.

Jamil Ghani, worldwide vice president of Amazon Prime, described the partnership as adding restaurant-delivery value to the membership alongside shipping, savings and entertainment.

Grubhub’s Prime relationship ends

Amazon’s Grubhub arrangement began in 2022 with a free Grubhub+ subscription for Prime members. In May 2024, the companies made the subscription an ongoing Prime benefit and added Grubhub ordering directly to Amazon’s website and shopping app.

An Amazon spokesperson said the company continuously evaluates its third-party offers. Wonder said the companies mutually agreed to end the arrangement, while confirming the extension for members already signed up.

Grubhub was already part of Wonder when the Uber Eats partnership launched. Wonder completed its acquisition in January 2025, replacing Just Eat Takeaway.com as the delivery company’s owner.

The Prime audience illustrates the scale of the distribution channel. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners put the number of U.S. Amazon shoppers using Prime at 201 million as of March 2026. Its estimate counts individual shoppers, including family members sharing access, rather than only households paying for subscriptions.

Delivery growth and a pending Instacart deal

Uber reported third-quarter delivery gross bookings of $28.5 billion, up 22% from a year earlier. Delivery segment operating income increased 30%, before orders from the Amazon partnership could contribute to those quarterly results.

Consumer Edge’s U.S. credit and debit card data put DoorDash at about 59% of spending across major delivery apps in the third quarter of 2026, compared with about 18% for Uber Eats. Those figures span delivery categories, including groceries and restaurants.

DoorDash reported marketplace gross order value of $33.9 billion for the quarter, up 36% year over year. It forecast fourth-quarter marketplace gross order value of $35.4 billion to $36.4 billion.

Separately, DoorDash and Instacart announced an acquisition agreement on October 29 valuing Instacart’s equity at approximately $17 billion, with at least 75% of the consideration in cash. The transaction had not closed when Amazon announced the Uber Eats partnership.

The companies expected closing in late 2027 or the first half of 2028, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and other conditions. They said DoorDash and Instacart would continue operating as separate companies until completion.
