A Microsoft Copilot shortcut appeared on some LG smart TVs in December 2025, providing access to the chatbot through the television’s web browser. Affected sets offered an option to hide the tile from the home screen but no control to delete it.
Reddit user defjam16 posted a screenshot showing the Copilot tile on an LG TV home screen and said it had appeared after a webOS software update. The tile appeared alongside streaming apps, but functioned as a browser shortcut rather than a standalone application installed on the television.
On a 65-inch LG B5 OLED TV, the home screen’s editing mode displayed a control to hide the shortcut but lacked the trash-can control used to uninstall apps. Hiding the tile removed it from the normal home screen, although it remained visible in editing mode.
The tile also appeared on a 2022 LG OLED, where it could be hidden but not removed. Another 2022 LG OLED did not display it. These observations do not establish which models or software versions received the shortcut, or why its availability differed between sets.
LG had announced plans during CES 2025 in January to incorporate Microsoft Copilot into its AI Search experience. The shortcut appearing on these televisions provided access through the webOS browser.
Samsung also announced Copilot support at CES 2025 and subsequently introduced it on selected 2025 TVs and Smart Monitors. Samsung said its integration supported questions, plot summaries and personalised recommendations, with access through the Tizen home screen, Samsung Daily+ and Click to Search. Availability varied by market and model.
