Ukraine’s digital transformation minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, said on December 16, 2025, that an interceptor drone powered by a Ukrainian-made Motor-G electric motor had reached 400 km/h (248.5 mph). The aircraft is designed to pursue and destroy other drones.
Fedorov identified Motor-G as a member of Brave1, Ukraine’s defense innovation platform.
Domestic motor production
Fedorov also said Motor-G was producing more than 100,000 motors per month, presenting domestic manufacturing as part of Ukraine’s effort to expand its supply of locally made drone components.
“Today, more and more drones are flying on motors made in Ukraine,” Fedorov wrote. “We are building the components market and strengthening Ukraine’s technological independence.”
Countering faster attack drones
Ukraine has been developing interceptor drones to counter Russian attacks involving large numbers of long-range drones, including the Iranian-designed Shahed family. Interceptors are intended to provide a low-cost means of destroying those aircraft.
Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence described Russia’s Geran-3 as an analogue of Iran’s jet-powered Shahed-238 and assessed its speed at 300–370 km/h (about 186–230 mph). The agency identified its engine as a Telefly JT80 turbojet.
