Young Sherlock: Prime Video Sets March 4, 2026 Premiere

Prime Video is sending Guy Ritchie back into Sherlock territory—this time with a younger, rougher version of the detective.

Prime Video has released the first teaser for Young Sherlock, confirming that all eight episodes will drop on March 4, 2026. The series stars Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a “raw and unfiltered” Sherlock Holmes who’s still far from the polished legend of Baker Street.

A disgraced Sherlock, a first case, and a bigger conspiracy

Set in 1870s Oxford, Young Sherlock opens with Holmes as a disgraced young man pulled into a murder case that threatens his freedom. What begins as his first investigation spirals into a globe-trotting conspiracy—one that reshapes his life long before the pipe, the violin, and 221B become part of the myth.

The show promises a version of Holmes defined less by certainty and more by volatility: brilliant, impulsive, and still learning how to channel his instincts into method.

Ritchie’s role and the creative team

While the series carries Ritchie’s fingerprints, it’s not a full-season directing job. Ritchie directs the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer, reuniting with the character after his films Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011).

The series is based on Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels and is created for television by Matthew Parkhill, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.

Cast

Alongside Tiffin, the series features Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.
