Apple is expanding its budget iPhone lineup again. The company has officially introduced the iPhone 17e, positioning it as a familiar-looking 6.1-inch model that borrows key internals from the main iPhone 17—most notably the A19 chip and support for Apple Intelligence.
Pricing lands exactly where the rumors pointed: $599, matching last year’s iPhone 16e. This time, the entry configuration also starts higher, with 256GB as the base storage tier, plus a new soft pink color option alongside the usual staples.

One of the biggest quality-of-life changes is what the 16e didn’t have: MagSafe. On iPhone 17e, Apple adds MagSafe support and bumps wireless charging to Qi2 speeds (up to 15W), versus 7.5W Qi on the 16e.
That’s a meaningful upgrade if you’ve been living the “wireless charging, but slow” life—and it also makes the 17e slot neatly into the broader MagSafe accessory ecosystem.
A new modem, and a tougher front glass
Apple is also giving the iPhone 17e its C1X cellular modem, claiming it’s up to 2x faster than the C1 used in the iPhone 16e. The company also leans on efficiency here, saying battery life benefits from the new modem plus iOS 26 power management.
Up front, the phone gets Ceramic Shield 2 protecting a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display. Apple claims 3x better scratch resistance than the prior generation, plus reduced glare via improved anti-reflective coating.

On paper, the camera setup looks largely consistent with the previous generation: a 48MP Fusion camera that Apple says delivers an “optical-quality” 2x Telephoto effect—“like having two cameras in one.” Apple isn’t calling out a new sensor or major pipeline change here, so any meaningful differences may come down to processing.
Externally, the iPhone 17e appears to stick with the same overall shape and front design language as its predecessor—including the notch—which suggests Apple is spending its “new stuff” budget on internals, charging, and durability rather than a redesign.
Satellite features and durability stay in place
Like the rest of the modern iPhone lineup, the iPhone 17e is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance, and it supports Apple’s satellite services including Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My via satellite.
If you want the bigger Apple roadmap context, there’s still plenty of noise around what comes next—especially foldable rumors—but Apple hasn’t confirmed anything beyond what it’s shipping today.
