Peter Phillips Marries NHS Nurse Harriet Sperling in Gloucestershire

Peter Phillips, the King’s nephew and the son of the Princess Royal, has married NHS nurse Harriet Sperling in a private ceremony in Gloucestershire.

The wedding took place on Saturday at All Saints Church in Kemble, a village near Cirencester. Reports from the scene said King Charles III and Queen Camilla were among the senior royals who attended, along with other members of the wider royal family.

Phillips, 48, is the son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips. The marriage is his second, following his split from Autumn Kelly. He and Sperling were reported to have begun dating in 2024, and their engagement was announced in August 2025.

Royal Family Members Attend the Ceremony

The ceremony drew attention because of Phillips’ place in the royal family and the number of senior figures reported to be present. The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen arriving at the church, while Zara and Mike Tindall, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were also reported among the guests.

Members of the public gathered outside the church, where barriers and road closures had been put in place around the village. Well-wishers were reported to have cheered as members of the royal family arrived for the private service.

Sperling arrived with three bridesmaids: Phillips’ daughters, Savannah and Isla, and Sperling’s daughter, Georgina. The source account described cheers from the crowd as the bride reached the church, though those crowd details have not been independently verified.

Phillips is a grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and is in the line of succession to the British throne. He does not hold a royal title, a distinction that has long set him apart from some of his royal cousins in public life.

A Village Wedding on Derby Day

The ceremony was held on the same day as the Epsom Derby. The King and Queen were expected to travel from the wedding to the racecourse, where they were due to attend one of the major events in the British racing calendar and present the trophy to the winner.

The choice of Kemble carried a personal connection for the couple, according to the source account, which said Sperling had lived in the village when she and Phillips met. The church sits in the centre of the rural village, and local preparations reportedly included bell-ringing practice and a community clean-up before the wedding.

The event was described as private, but the presence of senior royals and public crowds gave it a wider profile than a typical family ceremony. For Phillips and Sperling, it marked a new chapter after their relationship became public in the years following his divorce.
