Ghost is an open-source, self-hostable platform designed to run dedicated game servers through a user’s own Hetzner Cloud account. Its code is distributed under the MIT license, which permits use, modification and redistribution subject to its terms.

The project lists support for Minecraft, Valheim, Rust, Palworld, Enshrouded and Terraria. Ghost says the software handles Docker, SSH and firewall configuration, and advertises dedicated game server creation in under a minute.

Documented setup

Ghost’s May 7, 2026 README describes deploying the application to Vercel and provisioning supporting services: a Postgres database through Neon, Redis through Vercel KV or Upstash, and blob storage through Vercel Blob.

The documented installation includes cloning the repository, installing dependencies, configuring environment variables and running database migrations. After deployment, the instructions call for signing in, saving a Hetzner Cloud token and selecting “Build snapshot.” The README estimates that building the snapshot takes approximately 10–15 minutes.
