Roman “der8auer” Hartung reports that one unnamed graphics card partner cannot place new orders or backorders for Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 component kits. Nvidia says the card has not been discontinued and that shipments will continue, leaving the availability of fresh components unresolved.
The account comes from an employee at the partner cited in Hartung’s October 25 report. The ordering restriction has not been independently verified, and the report does not establish whether other RTX 5090 manufacturers face the same conditions.
Partner account describes a halt to backorders
The employee said the partner could not purchase GB202 GPUs bundled with 32GB of GDDR7 memory as complete kits. During previous shortages, the manufacturer could still place backorders and wait for delivery, the contact said. Hartung’s account says that option was no longer available.
The same contact said the company had received no end-of-life notice for the RTX 5090 and did not know whether ordering would reopen. A firm timeline for renewed component orders has not been publicly confirmed.
The reported restriction concerns parts supplied to a graphics card manufacturer, rather than retail preorders placed by customers. An inability to place those orders would affect a different stage of supply from the shipment of finished cards.
Nvidia reiterates its shipping position
Hartung says Nvidia Germany reaffirmed earlier comments by Jeff Fisher when asked about the situation. That reported response has not been independently verified.
Fisher, Nvidia’s senior vice president of personal computing, addressed discontinuation rumours in an October 16 post-event interview in Taipei. He acknowledged constraints on supply-chain capacity but said Nvidia was working to bring products to market and would continue shipping the RTX 5090.
His comments addressed the card’s official status and Nvidia’s stated intention to keep shipping it. They did not specify how much supply individual board partners would receive or provide a delivery timetable. A firm timeline for additional retail stock has not been publicly confirmed.
Nvidia lists the RTX 5090 with 32GB of GDDR7 memory and a 512-bit memory interface. Its published specifications refer to the Founders Edition or reference design; Nvidia notes that specifications can vary for cards made by add-in-card manufacturers.
Cooler supplier reports lower forecasts
Hartung also cites a cooling-system supplier that said two partners had reduced their projected RTX 5090 cooler orders for the first quarter of 2027 compared with the third quarter of 2026. The supplier said it had received no orders for second-quarter 2027 RTX 5090 coolers as of the report.
Those supplier claims have not been independently verified. They concern forecasts and orders, rather than final graphics card shipment figures, and do not establish that production has ended. Nvidia’s stated commitment to keep shipping the card does not specify whether or when fresh kits will reach the unnamed partner cited by Hartung. The partner’s account, in turn, does not establish an end-of-life decision for the RTX 5090 or identify when new orders might become possible for that manufacturer.
