Samsung’s long-rumored Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to reach the U.S. in Q1 2026, but its first day on sale in South Korea suggests it may be tough to snag at launch.
The TriFold went on sale in South Korea on December 12, 2025, and early signs point to a serious wave of interest.
Korea launch: big crowds, fast sellout
According to local reporting and Samsung-focused outlets, Samsung offered the Galaxy Z TriFold both online and through 20 major retail locations across the country, where lines formed quickly as buyers tried to get hands-on with the company’s first tri-folding phone.
And the stock didn’t last long. Multiple reports say the TriFold sold out within minutes, both in stores and online—despite a premium price tag.
The price is steep, even by foldable standards
In South Korea, the 512GB configuration is listed around KRW 3.59 million (roughly $2,440–$2,450 in straight conversion).
That makes the quick sellout even more notable. Samsung’s foldables aren’t exactly impulse buys, and the TriFold is an especially ambitious first-gen design.
A sellout doesn’t always mean massive volume
Of course, “sold out” only tells part of the story. Limited first-run supply can disappear fast even if overall production is constrained, and Samsung hasn’t publicly shared sales numbers for the TriFold’s Korea debut. Still, selling through initial inventory this quickly is a strong signal that curiosity (and willingness to pay) is real.
Restocks in Korea, U.S. next
For Korea, Samsung is already taking restock sign-ups/notifications, though it hasn’t provided a firm timeline for when more units will land.
As for the U.S., Samsung has confirmed it’s on the list of follow-up markets after Korea, but the company hasn’t locked in an exact on-sale date. Current reporting points to a Q1 2026 window.
If the Korea launch is any indication—and if supply stays limited—U.S. pre-orders could move quickly once Samsung opens the gates.
